Heat Pump for a Sports Centre
Heat pumps operating on geothermal energy are an efficient way of using renewable energy. A generating set with a heat output of 21 kW is used to heat the sports centre of the district of Gramastetten in Upper Austria. An electricity input of 6,500 kWh is sufficient to generate an output of 28,000 kWh for space and water heating. Compared with a conventional heating system based on an oil-fired boiler, the use of geothermal energy results in annual savings of 8 tonnes of CO2.
